THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: (1) TO ADVANCE ISLAM THROUGH: FACILITATING AND ASSISTING BRITISH MUSLIMS IN MATTERS OF THEIR RELIGION BY PROVIDING GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING; FORMULATING AND PROMOTING THEOLOGICALLY SOUND ISLAMIC POSITIONS ON CONTEMPORARY ISSUES. (2) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN ISLAM, MUSLIMS, ISLAMIC VALUES AND ETHOS. (3) THE PROMOTION OF RELIGIOUS HARMONY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC BY PROMOTING KNOWLEDGE AND MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING AND RESPECT OF THE BELIEFS AND PRACTICES OF DIFFERENT RELIGIOUS FAITHS.’
