Charitable objects
TO ACQUIRE AND TAKE OVER ALL THE ASSETS AND LIABILITIES OF THE PRESENT UNINCORPORATED BODY KNOWN AS THE DEAN FOREST RAILWAY MUSEUM TRUST. TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN A MUSEUM FOR THE CONSERVATION AND EXHIBITION OF ITEMS OF HISTORICAL INTEREST FORMERLY ASSOCIATED WITH OLD RAILWAYS AND IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, THE SEVERN AND WYE RAILWAY CO., RAILWAYS/TRAMWAYS IN THE FOREST OF DEAN LOCALITY, AND RELATED RAILWAY COMPANIES. SUCH MUSEUM TO BE LOCATED ON OR NEAR THE ROUTE OF THE FORMER SEVERN & WYE RAILWAY IN THE FOREST OF DEAN AND BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC IN OLD RAILWAYS, RAILWAY HISTORY AND BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, THE SEVERN AND WYE RAILWAY COMPANIES, AND TO SHOW HOW SUCH RAILWAYS RELATED TO THE FOREST OF DEAN AREA. TO ADVANCE PUBLIC EDUCATION, LEARNING AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT BY THE ACQUISITION, RESTORATION, PRESERVATION AND EXHIBITION OF HISTORIC RAILWAY LOCOMOTIVES, VEHICLES, COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE ASSOCIATED WITH BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, THE SEVERN & WYE RAILWAY, RAILWAYS IN THE FOREST OF DEAN & GLOUCESTERSHIRE. TO ADVANCE PUBLIC EDUCATION AND LEARNING BY THE CONSERVATION AND EXHIBITION TO MUSEUM STANDARDS OF DOCUMENTS AND RECORDS OF HISTORIC, TECHNICAL AND ACADEMIC INTEREST ASSOCIATED WITH THE TRAMWAYS AND RAILWAYS OF THE FOREST OF DEAN AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES MAY FROM TIME TO TIME DECIDE. TO ADVANCE PUBLIC EDUCATION AND LEARNING BY THE PUBLICATION OF PAMPHLETS, BOOKLETS, PERIODICALS OR BOOKS IN HARD COPY OR ELECTRONIC FORM RELATING TO THE TRAMWAYS AND RAILWAYS OF THE FOREST OF DEAN TO ENSURE CONTINUITY OF PRESERVATION FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. TO SEEK AND MAINTAIN ACCREDITED MUSEUM STATUS OF THE ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND OR ANY SUCCESSOR OR SIMILAR ORGANISATION REGULATORY SCHEME FOR MUSEUMS. IN FURTHERANCE OF THE ABOVE OBJECTS THE CIO SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO RESTORE AND REPAIR ITEMS IN THE MUSEUM COLLECTION WHERE EVER POSSIBLE.
