Charitable objects
3.1 THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: 3.1.1 TO PRESERVE, IMPROVE, MAINTAIN, RESTORE AND REPAIR THE DORNEYWOOD ESTATE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT AND/OR TO ASSIST THE NATIONAL TRUST IN DOING SO, INCLUDING IN PARTICULAR THE MANSION HOUSE DORNEYWOOD AND OTHER BUILDINGS ON THE DORNEYWOOD ESTATE AND THE GARDENS AND ORNAMENTAL GROUNDS APPURTENANT THERETO. 3.1.2 TO PRESERVE, MAINTAIN AND REPAIR THE CHATTELS AT DORNEYWOOD FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT AND/OR TO ASSIST THE NATIONAL TRUST IN DOING SO. 3.1.3 TO ACQUIRE AND PRESERVE LAND IN THE VICINITY OF THE DORNEYWOOD ESTATE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT OR TO SUPPORT THE ACQUISITION AND PRESERVATION OF SUCH LAND BY THE NATIONAL TRUST IN ACCORDANCE WITH CLAUSE 3.2. 3.2 ANY ACQUISITION OF LAND UNDER CLAUSE 3.1.3 BY THE NATIONAL TRUST TO BE MADE WITH SUPPORT FROM THE CIO SHALL BE MADE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE NATIONAL TRUST AFTER CONSULTATION WITH AND SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE CHARITY TRUSTEES. THE CHARITY TRUSTEES SHALL USE THEIR BEST ENDEAVOURS TO SECURE THAT ANY SUCH LAND IS HELD AND RETAINED BY THE NATIONAL TRUST UPON SIMILAR CONDITIONS TO THOSE UPON WHICH AND SUBJECT TO WHICH THE DORNEYWOOD ESTATE IS HELD.
