THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: TO PROMOTE, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, THE CONSERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT THROUGH THE PREVENTION OR MITIGATION OF CLIMATE CHANGE BY: (A) MAKING GRANTS TO CHARITIES AND ORGANISATIONS THAT TAKE POSITIVE ACTION TO PREVENT OR MITIGATE THE CAUSES AND/OR EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE; (B) MAKING GRANTS TO CHARITIES, INSTITUTIONS OR ORGANISATIONS TO FUND RESEARCH INTO THE CAUSES, EFFECTS AND WAYS TO PREVENT OR MITIGATE CLIMATE CHANGE (PROVIDED THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH IS PUBLISHED); (C) EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE CAUSES AND IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE NEED TO TAKE ACTION IN ORDER TO PREVENT OR MITIGATE IT; AND (D) PROMOTING WAYS TO REDUCE THE IMPACT OF HUMAN ACTIVITY THAT CONTRIBUTES TO CLIMATE CHANGE.
