The Mid Pennine Search and Rescue Organisation (MPSRO) serves as a representative body for the five independent Mountain Rescue teams in the Mid Pennine Region, namely; Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team, Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team, Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team and Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team.

THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS THE PROMOTION OF THE EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF SEARCH AND RESCUE CHARITIES AND VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY: A) FACILITATING, ENCOURAGING, PROMOTING AND UNDERTAKING RESEARCH, INNOVATION, TRAINING, EDUCATION, ASSESSMENT AND OPERATIONAL MATTERS APPLICABLE TO SEARCH AND RESCUE IN THE UK AND ABROAD, FOR PUBLIC BENEFIT; AND B) SUPPORTING ACTIVITIES RELATING TO THE PRESERVATION AND PROTECTION OF HEALTH AND SAVING OF LIVES IN RELATION TO THE SEARCH AND RESCUE OF MISSING PERSONS FOR MEMBER ORGANISATIONS VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS ARE INDEPENDENT ORGANISATIONS WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED FOR PURPOSES THAT ADD VALUE TO THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE, OR A SIGNIFICANT SECTION OF THE COMMUNITY, AND WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED BY THEIR CONSTITUTION TO MAKE A PROFIT FOR PRIVATE DISTRIBUTION.VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS DO NOT INCLUDE LOCAL GOVERNMENT OR OTHER STATUTORY ORGANISATIONS.
