LCGB works to protect and support breastfeeding, in order to improve the health and wellbeing of families across the country through advocacy and by providing expert breastfeeding care. Founded in 1994 to serve as a professional voice for breastfeeding, LCGB also provides advanced education and training for infant feeding specialists.

THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: 1)TO PROMOTE AND PROTECT THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC THROUGH INCREASING SKILLED AND EXPERT BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT TO AND FOR MOTHERS AND BABIES. 2)TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC, AND ESPECIALLY THOSE PERSONS CONCERNED WITH CARE OF CHILDREN, ON THE IMPORTANCE OF BREASTFEEDING (AS A PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE), BOTH IN THE IMMEDIATE AND LONG-TERM, AND TO PROMOTE A HIGH STANDARD OF EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE ABOUT BREASTFEEDING, EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE AND LACTATION INCLUDING SPECIALISED CARE.
