Charitable objects
1.1 THE OBJECTS OF THE CHARITY, WHICH ARE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, ARE SPECIFICALLY RESTRICTED TO THE FOLLOWING: 1.1.1 TO FURTHER OR BENEFIT THE RESIDENTS LIVING WITHIN THE AREA COVERED BY THE ECCLESIASTICAL PARISHES OF WIGAN CENTRAL, WIGAN EAST (CHAPELFIELDS), WIGAN NORTH EAST, WIGAN NORTH WEST, WIGAN SOUTH, WIGAN TOWN CENTRE, AND WIGAN WEST (TOGETHER COMPRISING THE DEANERY OF WIGAN) WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, RACE OR OF POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER THE SAID RESIDENTS AND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE RESIDENTS; 1.1.2 THE RELIEF OF SICKNESS AND THE PRESERVATION OF HEALTH AMONG PEOPLE RESIDING PERMANENTLY OR TEMPORARILY WITHIN THE DEANERY OF WIGAN, THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE RELIGIOUS OR OTHER WORK OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND, AND OTHER ECUMENICAL PARTNERS; 1.1.3 THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE RELIGIOUS OR OTHER WORK OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND, AND OTHER ECUMENICAL PARTNERS; 1.1.4 TO RELIEVE THE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL SICKNESS OF PERSONS RESIDENT WITHIN THE DEANERY OF WIGAN SUFFERING FROM BEREAVEMENT OR LOSS BY THE PROVISION OF COUNSELLING AND SUPPORT FOR SUCH PERSONS; 1.1.5 THE RELIEF OF SICKNESS AND FINANCIAL HARDSHIP AMONGST THOSE SEEKING ASYLUM IN THE UNITED KINGDOM OR WHO ARE REFUGEES, AND WHO RESIDE WITHIN THE DEANERY OF WIGAN; 1.1.6 TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY PREVENTING PEOPLE FROM BECOMING SOCIALLY EXCLUDED, RELIEVING THE NEEDS OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED AND ASSISTING THEM TO INTEGRATE INTO SOCIETY. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLAUSE 'SOCIALLY EXCLUDED' MEANS BEING EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY, OR PARTS OF SOCIETY, AS A RESULT OF ONE OF MORE OF THE FOLLOWING FACTORS: UNEMPLOYMENT; FINANCIAL HARDSHIP; YOUTH OR OLD AGE; ILL HEALTH (PHYSICAL OR MENTAL); SUBSTANCE ABUSE OR DEPENDENCY INCLUDING ALCOHOL AND DRUGS; DISCRIMINATION ON THE GROUNDS OF SEX, RACE, DISABILITY, ETHNIC ORIGIN, RELIGION, BELIEF, CREED, SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR GENDER RE-ASSIGNMENT; POOR EDUCATIONAL OR SKILLS ATTAINMENT; RELATIONSHIP AND FAMILY BREAKDOWN; POOR HOUSING (THAT IS HOUSING THAT DOES NOT MEET BASIC HABITABLE STANDARDS; CRIME (EITHER AS A VICTIM OF CRIME OR AS AN OFFENDER REHABILITATING INTO SOCIETY). 1.1.7 ANY OTHER CHARITABLE PURPOSE WITHIN THE LAW IN ENGLAND AND WALES WHICH SHALL BE SELECTED BY THE TRUSTEES IN THEIR ABSOLUTE DISCRETION FROM TIME TO TIME.
