Activities - how the charity spends its money
THE LIC PROVIDES A PLACE OF WORSHIP FOR MUSLIMS INCLUDING THE 5 DAILY PRAYERS, THE JUMU'A FRIDAY PRAYER, THE TARAWIH PRAYERS IN RAMADAN AND THE 2 'EID PRAYERS. WE PROVIDE DAILY LESSONS IN ARABIC AND THE QUR'AN FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN AND INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE TEACHINGS OF ISLAM FOR ANYONE WHO SEEKS IT. WE ALSO ASSIST IN FEEDING THE HUNGRY AND RELIEVING THE POOR BY SHARING ZAKAT.

Charitable expenditure
Some charities generate all, or a substantial part, of their income from investments which may have been donated to the charity as endowment or set aside by the charity from its own resources in the past. Such investments usually take the form of stocks and shares but may include other assets, such as property, that are capable of generating income and/or capital growth.
In managing their spending and investments charities need to strike a balance between the needs of future and current beneficiaries. They also need to take account of spending commitments that may stretch over a number of future years. To do this, charities will normally adopt an investment strategy designed to generate both income and capital growth. To maximise returns trustees may commit to investment strategies for several years.
Investments can experience large swings in value so trustees may, in a particular year, decide to realise and spend part of their charity’s capital or to invest part of its income.

Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE LIC ("THE OBJECTS") ARE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AND MORE PARTICULARLY IN THE LONDON BOROUGH OF LEWISHAM AND IN THE UNITED KINGDOM: (A) THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE FAITH AND RELIGIOUS PRACTICES OF ISLAM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE QURAN AND THE SUNNAH AMONGST MUSLIMS IN PARTICULAR AND MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC IN GENERAL; (B) THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT CONCERNING THE TEACHINGS AND PRACTICES OF ISLAM; (C) THE ADVANCEMENT OF GENERAL EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT; (D) THE PROVISION OF RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THOSE PERSONS IN NEED OF SUCH FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES; (E) THE RELIEF OF POVERTY, SICKNESS AND SUFFERING OF ANY PERSONS WHO ARE IN NEED IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR NATIONALITY, RACE, ETHNIC ORIGIN AND RELIGIOUS BELIEFS; (F) THE ADVANCEMENT OF BOTH RELIGIOUS AND RACIAL HARMONY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC BY: (I) PROMOTING KNOWLEDGE OF AND MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN DIFFERENT RELIGIOUS AND RACIAL GROUPS; (II) ADVANCING EDUCATION AND RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT DIFFERENT RELIGIOUS AND RACIAL GROUPS IN ORDER TO PROMOTE GOOD RELATIONS BETWEEN PERSONS BELONGING TO DIFFERENT RELIGIOUS AND RACIAL GROUPS; (III) WORKING TOWARDS THE ELIMINATION OF DISCRIMINATION ON THE GROUNDS OF RELIGION AND RACE; AND (G) THE ADVANCEMENT OF SUCH OTHER CHARITABLE OBJECTS FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT (ACCORDING TO THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES) AS THE TRUSTEES MAY FROM TIME TO TIME THINK FIT, PROVIDED ALWAYS THAT THESE ARE IN HARMONY WITH THE QURAN AND THE SUNNAH.
