Charitable objects
THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE HISTORY AND HERITAGE OF STURMINSTER NEWTON AND ITS SURROUNDING VILLAGES, IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY: A) THE MAINTENANCE AND MANAGEMENT OF AN ANCIENT, GRADE II* LISTED WORKING MILL AND SUCH OTHER HISTORICAL SITES DEEMED TO BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CIO; B) THE MAINTENANCE AND MANAGEMENT OF STURMINSTER NEWTON MUSEUM TO NATIONALLY RECOGNISED ACCREDITATION STANDARDS OF GOVERNANCE, COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT AND VISITOR SERVICES; C) FACILITATING ACCESS TO AND THE INTERPRETATION OF OTHER SITES AND BUILDINGS OF HISTORIC INTEREST WITHIN STURMINSTER NEWTON AND THE SURROUNDING AREA THROUGH MANAGEMENT AGREEMENTS OR PARTNERSHIPS WITH OTHER PARTIES AS APPROPRIATE; D) BUILDING, HOLDING IN TRUST AND CARING FOR A COLLECTION OF OBJECTS FROM AN AREA AUTHORISED AND AGREED BY THE DORSET MUSEUMS ASSOCIATION, ROUGHLY AN AREA GOVERNED BY THE FORMER STURMINSTER NEWTON RURAL DISTRICT COUNCIL; E) MAKING COLLECTIONS OF ARTEFACTS, ITEMS AND SOURCES OF HISTORICAL INTEREST ACCESSIBLE TO THE PUBLIC FOR THEIR INFORMATION AND ENJOYMENT THROUGH DISPLAYS AND THE PROVISION OF RESEARCH FACILITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR; F) ACTIVELY ENGAGING WITH SCHOOLS AND ADULT INTEREST GROUPS TO INCREASE KNOWLEDGE AND APPRECIATION OF THE LOCAL HERITAGE THROUGH REGULAR TALKS, EVENTS AND TARGETED ACTIVITIES;
