Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO SHALL BE, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT: 1. THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION, PRIMARILY IN THE FIELD OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES (SUCH AS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE), IN PARTICULAR (BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY) BY CONDUCTING THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES IN ORDER TO CONTRIBUTE TO BETTER PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE POTENTIAL BENEFITS AND RISKS OF SUCH TECHNOLOGIES: (A) CONDUCTING RESEARCH INTO EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES AND PUBLISHING THE USEFUL RESULTS THEREOF TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC; (B) SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANISATIONS TO CARRY OUT RESEARCH INTO EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES, THROUGH PROVIDING GRANTS AND OTHER FORMS OF SUPPORT; (D) HOSTING EVENTS SUCH AS CONFERENCES, RESEARCH RETREATS, AND WORKSHOPS; TO PROMOTE RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN, AND TO STIMULATE DISCUSSION AND EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION ABOUT, EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES; AND (E) PROVIDING COACHING, MENTORING AND SCHOLARSHIPS TO THOSE INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES; AND 2. TO ADVANCE SUCH OTHER PURPOSES WHICH ARE EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE ACCORDING TO THE LAW IN ENGLAND AND WALES AS THE TRUSTEES MAY FROM TIME TO TIME DETERMINE, IN PARTICULAR (BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY) BY GRANTMAKING.
