(1) TO ALLEVIATE HARDSHIP AND DISTRESS CAUSED BY THE BREAK UP OF MARRIAGE AND FAMILY AND TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE HEALTH BOTH MENTAL AND PHYSICAL OF ADULTS AND CHILDREN INVOLVED THEREIN, IN PARTICULAR BY ADVISING AND HELPING ADULTS AND CHILDREN THROUGH MEDIATION WHERE RELATIONSHIPS HAVE BROKEN DOWN OR ARE BREAKING DOWN (2) TO UNDERTAKE OTHER FORMS OF MEDIATION FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE COMMUNITY
