THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: (1) TO PROMOTE THE BENEFITS OF THOSE PEOPLE NOW RESIDING IN NEWPORT WHO WERE BORN IN THE YEMEN OR ARE DESCENDANTS OF PEOPLE BORN IN THE YEMEN WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX, POLITICAL OR RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS BY ASSOCIATING THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS AND INHABITANTS IN A COMMON EFFORT, BY THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION, THE PROTECTION OF HEALTH AND THE RELIEF OF POVERTY, SICKNESS AND DISTRESS, AND THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE SAID INHABITANTS (2) TO RELIEVE POVERTY, SICKNESS AND DISTRESS BY THE PROVISION OF A WELFARE RIGHTS ADVICE CENTRE (3) TO WORK TOWARDS THE ELIMINATION OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION.
