Activities - how the charity spends its money

The Project was set up in 1981 by local people for local people to provide community facilities for disadvantaged groups living in the Calder Valley, Luddendenfoot and Todmorden of Calderdale. In addition to developing a number of local community initiatives and not-for-profit social enterprises, the Ground Floor project runs the Salem Community Resource Centre, housing 28 community groups.

Charitable objects

(I) TO PROMOTE THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION, THE RELIEF OF NEED AND THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES FOR RECREATIONAL AND OTHER LEISURE-TIME OCCUPANTS IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE AMONG YOUNG AND OTHER UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE RESIDING WITHIN UPPER CALDERDALE (COMPRISING THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTORAL WARDS OF CALDER VALLEY, LUDDENDENFOOT AND TODMORDEN). (II) TO PROMOTE THE PROTECTION AND PRESERVATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY: (A) EDUCATING THE PUBLIC IN THE BENEFITS TO THE ENVIRONMENT OF SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT AND ENERGY PRACTICES, (B) CONDUCTING RESEARCH INTO SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY AND DISSEMINATING THE USEFUL RESULTS OF THAT RESEARCH AND (C) DEVELOPING AND ENCOURAGING SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PRACTICES.
