Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: 1) TO FURTHER THE FOLLOWING EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE PURPOSES FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT WITHIN THE AREA DEFINED BY THE NEIGHBOURHOOD DEVELOPMENT PLAN APPROVED IN 2019 FOR THE SOUTH BANK AND WATERLOO NEIGHBOURHOOD (“THE AREA OF BENEFIT”): A) TO PROMOTE HIGH STANDARDS OF PLANNING AND ARCHITECTURE IN OR AFFECTING THE AREA OF BENEFIT. B) TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC IN THE GEOGRAPHY, HISTORY, NATURAL HISTORY, CULTURE AND ARCHITECTURE OF THE AREA OF BENEFIT. C) TO SECURE THE PRESERVATION, PROTECTION, DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF FEATURES OR AREAS OF HISTORIC OR PUBLIC INTEREST IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT. IN FURTHERANCE OF THE ABOVE PURPOSES BUT NOT OTHERWISE THE TRUSTEES SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO ESTABLISH A NEIGHBOURHOOD FORUM FOR THE AREA OF BENEFIT TO PROMOTE AND OR IMPROVE THE SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL WELL-BEING OF THE AREA. 2) THE PROMOTION OF THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR IN SOUTH BANK AND WATERLOO FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY: A) LIAISING BETWEEN CHARITIES, VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND OTHER GROUPS ON RELEVANT ISSUES. B) ACTING AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR IN RELATION TO GOVERNMENT POLICIES AND LEGISLATION. 3) TO ADVANCE SUCH PURPOSES AS ARE CHARITABLE IN LAW FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE RESIDENTS OF SOUTHBANK AND WATERLOO AND THE SURROUNDING AREA BY THE MAKING OF GRANTS TO CHARITIES AND VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS. FOR THE PURPOSES OF CLAUSES 2 AND 3, ‘THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR’ AND ’VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS’ REFERS TO CHARITIES AND VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS DEFINED AS FOLLOWS: · CHARITIES ARE ORGANISATIONS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED FOR EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE PURPOSES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES. · VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS ARE INDEPENDENT ORGANISATIONS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED FOR PURPOSES THAT ADD VALUE TO THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE, OR A SIGNIFICANT SECTION OF THE COMMUNITY, AND WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED BY THEIR CONSTITUTION TO MAKE A PROFIT FOR PRIVATE DISTRIBUTION. VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS DO NOT INCLUDE LOCAL GOVERNMENT OR OTHER STATUTORY AUTHORITIES.
