THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: TO PRESERVE AND CONSERVE RED SQUIRREL POPULATIONS IN THEIR NATURAL HABITAT IN BUTTERWICK, NEAR PENRITH IN CUMBRIA FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, IN PARTICULAR BY UNDERTAKING WORK TO PRESERVE THE RED SQUIRREL POPULATION IN CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THE NATIONAL BREEDING PROGRAMME IN GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND AND BY SO DOING RAISING AWARENESS OF AND EDUCATING THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN THE SUBJECT OF THE NATIVE RED SQUIRREL AS A SPECIES, THE THREATS IT FACES AND THE NEED FOR CONSERVATION ACTIVITY TO ENSURE ITS SURVIVAL IN GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND.
