Charitable objects
(1) (A) THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO USE OR APPLY ITS ASSETS FOR SUCH CHARITABLE PURPOSES WHICH ADVANCE THE RELIGIOUS AND OTHER CHARITABLE WORKS OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IN ENGLAND AND WALES OR ELSEWHERE IN THE WORLD AS THE CIO (WITH THE APPROVAL HEREINAFTER) SHALL THINK FIT AND WITH REFERENCE TO ART 175 AND ART 179 OF THE CONSTITUTIONS OF THE CONGREGATION OF THE SISTERS OF CHARITY OF OUR LADY MOTHER OF MERCY SCMM. (B) WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING, THE CIO MAY APPLY ASSETS IN: ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING A NURSING OR CARE HOME FOR SICK, ELDERLY, OR FRAIL PEOPLE IN NEED, OF ANY RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION OR NONE. ACCOMMODATING AND PROVIDING FOR A COMMUNITY OF CONSECRATED RELIGIOUS SISTERS OF THE SISTERS OF CHARITY OF OUR LADY MOTHER OF MERCY OR OTHER RECOGNISED RELIGIOUS INSTITUTE OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH WHOSE MEMBERS DEDICATE THEIR LIVES TO SERVING CHRIST. MAINTAINING ANY PLACE OF PUBLIC RELIGIOUS WORSHIP CELEBRATING RITES ACCORDING TO THE PRACTICES OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. FACILITATING RETREATS, DIVERSE GROUPS AND EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS. (C) THE CHARITY TRUSTEES SHALL, CONSISTENTLY WITH THEIR CIVIL DUTIES AS SUCH, IN SELECTING PROPOSED PARTICULAR CHARITABLE WORKS TO UNDERTAKE OR SUPPORT, USE THEIR BEST ENDEAVOURS TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE PRINCIPLES OF THE MISSION, VISION AND VALUES CONTAINED IN THE GOSPELS AS THAT RULE HAS BEEN LIVED AND INTERPRETED. (2) THE CIO SHALL IN EVERY PARTICULAR USE OR APPLY ITS ASSETS AND PROVIDE ITS SERVICES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TENETS OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.
