Charitable objects
THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, THE PRESERVATION, REPAIR, MAINTENANCE, IMPROVEMENT, UPKEEP, BEAUTIFICATION AND RECONSTRUCTION OF CHURCHES IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT AND OF MONUMENTS, FITTINGS, FIXTURES, STAINED GLASS, FURNITURE, ORNAMENTS AND CHATTELS IN SUCH CHURCHES AND OF THE CHURCHYARD BELONGING TO SUCH CHURCHES.
THE “AREA OF BENEFIT” MEANS THE GEOGRAPHICAL COUNTY OF DEVON AND THE DIOCESE OF EXETER.
“CHURCH” MEANS ANY CHURCH (INCLUDING A CATHEDRAL, ABBEY, MINSTER OR PRIORY CHURCH) CHAPEL OR OTHER BUILDING USED FOR PUBLIC WORSHIP FOR THE TIME BEING WHETHER BELONGING TO OR USED BY THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND OR ANY OTHER RELIGIOUS BODY.
