Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT: 1. TO ADVANCE IN LIFE YOUNG PEOPLE, IN PARTICULAR THOSE FROM POOR ETHNIC MINORITY BACKGROUNDS, WHO MAY WISH TO ENTER THE LEGAL PROFESSION BY PROVIDING THEM WITH OPPORTUNITIES THAT WOULD NOT OTHERWISE BE AVAILABLE TO THEM, AND SPECIFICALLY IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING WAYS: I. PROVIDING SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE TO ANY BENEFICIARY WITH A VIEW TO ASSISTING THAT BENEFICIARY'S ENTRY INTO THE LEGAL PROFESSION; II. AWARDING TO ANY BENEFICIARY GRANTS, MAINTENANCE OR TRAVEL ALLOWANCES TO ENABLE SUCH BENEFICIARY TO STUDY OR OBTAIN WORK EXPERIENCE IN THE FURTHERANCE OF HIS OR HER LEGAL EDUCATION; III. ARRANGING WORK EXPERIENCE PLACEMENTS AND PAID INTERNSHIPS FOR BENEFICIARIES; IV. PROVIDING ADVICE AND MENTORING TO AND FOR BENEFICIARIES; AND V. OTHERWISE FURTHERING THE LEGAL EDUCATION OF BENEFICIARIES. 2. THE PROMOTION OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION BY: I. ADVANCING EDUCATION AND RAISING AWARENESS IN EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY; II. PROMOTING ACTIVITIES TO FOSTER UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN PEOPLE FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS; AND III. CULTIVATING A SENTIMENT IN FAVOUR OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY.
