The Formby Civic Society was founded in 1953 to preserve the identity of Formby, safeguard its amenities, develop its cultural activities and encourage local studies. It is active in local civic affairs and planning issues. We have a regular programme of meetings & events.

Charitable objects
(I) TO STIMULATE PUBLIC INTEREST IN AND CARE FOR THE HISTORY AND CHARACTER OF THE AREA OF BENEFIT. (II) TO REPRESENT THE COMMUNITY INTEREST AND TO SAFEGUARD THE AMENITY OF ALL THOSE WHO RESIDE IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT. (III) TO PROMOTE HIGH STANDARDS OF PLANNING AND ARCHITECTURE IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT. (IV) TO ENCOURAGE THE PRESERVATION, DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF FEATURES OF GENERAL PUBLIC AMENITY OR HISTORIC INTEREST IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT AND TO SAFEGUARD ITS NATURAL AMENITIES AND WILDLIFE. (V) TO ENCOURAGE THE STUDY OF LOCAL HISTORY OF THE AREA BY ARRANGING MEETINGS AND CURATING AN ARCHIVE OF RELEVANT HISTORICAL ARTEFACTS, PHOTOGRAPHS AND PICTURES, AND PUBLICATIONS, INCLUDING BOOKS, PAMPHLETS, MAPS ETC TO WHICH MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY, STUDENTS, SCHOLARS AND MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC SHALL HAVE APPROPRIATELY SUPERVISED ACCESS AS DETERMINED BY THE SOCIETY'S CONSTITUTION FOR THE PURPOSES OF STUDY AND RESEARCH
