THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO PROMOTE AND PROTECT THE MENTAL HEALTH OF THE PUBLIC, IN PARTICULAR AMONGST THE BLACK, ASIAN AND MINORITY ETHNIC (BAME) COMMUNITIES, PRIMARILY (BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY) BY: A) EDUCATING AND RAISING AWARENESS AROUND MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES; B) PROVIDING PEER SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS SUFFERING FROM MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES AND THEIR FAMILIES OR CARERS; AND C) ADVOCATING FOR IMPROVED MENTAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES.
