Charitable objects
THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS: FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF PEOPLE OVER THE AGE OF 17 IN THE UNITED KINGDOM WHO ARE EXPERIENCING PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY PROVIDING A) COUNSELLING SERVICES AND B) INFORMATION AND ADVICE TO IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLAUSE, ‘PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS’ REFERS TO A RANGE OF SYMPTOMS AND EXPERIENCES OF A PERSON'S INTERNAL LIFE THAT ARE COMMONLY HELD TO BE TROUBLING, CONFUSING OR OUT OF THE ORDINARY AND WHICH LEAD TO CHANGES IN BEHAVIOUR WHICH AFFECT A PERSON IN A NEGATIVE WAY, AFFECTING THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE PEOPLE AROUND THEM AND THEIR ABILITY TO FUNCTION EFFECTIVELY IN LIFE.
