THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT THE RELIEF OF POVERTY AND NEED OF PEOPLE WHO ARE HOMELESS OR ROUGH SLEEPING IN ENGLAND INCLUDING THROUGH (I) THE PROVISION OF FOOD, PERSONAL CARE ITEMS AND OTHER NECESSITIES (EITHER DIRECTLY OR BY MEANS OF A CREDIT/ VOUCHER SYSTEM IN COOPERATION WITH RETAILERS AND OTHER THIRD PARTIES); (II) THE PROVISION OF OR ACCESS TO SHELTER AND TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION FOR THE HOMELESS AND ROUGH SLEEPERS; (III) THE PROVISION OF ADVICE, SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE FOR PERSONS IN NEED WHO ARE DEEMED TO BE HOMELESS OR ROUGH SLEEPING WHICH DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY RELIEVE, REDUCE OR END THEIR HOMELESSNESS; (IV) UNDERTAKING, PUBLISHING AND PROMOTING RESEARCH RELATING TO HOMELESSNESS AND OTHER ASSOCIATED MATTERS; AND V) BRINGING THE ISSUE OF HOMELESSNESS AND ROUGH SLEEPING TO THE ATTENTION OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND DEVELOPING PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE EXTENT AND CONSEQUENCES OF HOMELESSNESS AND ROUGH SLEEPING, TOGETHER WITH THE STEPS WHICH ARE AND CAN BE TAKEN TO ALLEVIATE IT.
