Charitable objects
1. THE RELIEF OF PEOPLE IN NEED DUE TO POVERTY, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS IN COVENTRY BY PROVIDING GRANTS, ITEMS AND SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS IN NEED AND/OR CHARITIES, OR OTHER ORGANISATIONS WORKING TO PREVENT OR RELIEVE POVERTY AND DISTRESS. IN EXCEPTIONAL CASES THE TRUSTEES MAY GRANT RELIEF TO PERSONS WHO ARE RESIDENT IMMEDIATELY OUTSIDE THE SAID CITY. 2. TO RELIEVE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP, AMONGST ELDERLY PEOPLE BY PROVIDING GRANTS. 3. FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT (INCLUDING SOCIAL AND PHYSICAL TRAINING) OF PEOPLE IN COVENTRY IN SUCH WAYS AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES THINK FIT, INCLUDING BY: • FUNDING SCHOLARSHIPS, MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES OR GRANTS AT ANY UNIVERSITY, COLLEGE OR INSTITUTION OF HIGHER OR FURTHER EDUCATION. • FUNDING EDUCATION (INCLUDING THE STUDY OF MUSIC OR OTHER ARTS), TRAVEL IN FURTHERANCE OF THAT EDUCATION, RESEARCH PROJECTS, OR TO PREPARE FOR ENTRY TO ANY OCCUPATION, TRADE OR PROFESSION ON LEAVING ANY EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT. • IN EXCEPTIONAL CASES THE TRUSTEES MAY PROVIDE FUNDING AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PERSONS WHO ARE OR WHO HAVE A PARENT OR PARENTS RESIDENT IMMEDIATELY OUTSIDE THE SAID CITY. 4. TO PROMOTE THE ARTS, PRESERVE HISTORIC BUILDINGS, IMPROVE AMENITIES OR FACILITIES FOR RECREATION AND OTHER LEISURE ACTIVITIES WITHIN COVENTRY FOR THE PUBLIC AT LARGE IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITION OF LIFE OF THE SAID INHABITANTS. 5. TO FURTHER SUCH CHARITABLE PURPOSES (CHARITABLE UNDER ENGLISH LAW) AS THE TRUSTEES SEE FIT FROM TIME TO TIME.
