THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE :- TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC BY THE PRESERVATION, RESTORATION, DISPLAY AND OPERATION OF FORMER GWR (GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY) 0-6-0 SADDLE TANK LOCOMOTIVE NO. 813 (EX PORT TALBOT RAILWAY NO. 26), AS WELL AS OTHER LOCOMOTIVES, SELECTED ITEMS OF GOODS, PASSENGER AND OTHER ROLLING STOCK OF GWR ORIGIN OR DESIGN (INCLUDING VEHICLES OF ‘ABSORBED’ STOCK) AND ARTEFACTS OR EQUIPMENT ASSOCIATED THEREWITH, WHICH ARE OF HISTORIC OR TECHNICAL INTEREST, AND TO UNDERTAKE RESEARCH INTO THE HISTORY, OPERATIONS AND TECHNICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THESE ITEMS AND TO PUBLICISE OR OTHERWISE DISSEMINATE THE RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH FOR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION. IN FURTHERANCE OF ITS OBJECTS THE C.I.O. WILL :- (A) ARRANGE FOR ITS LOCOMOTIVES AND OTHER STOCK TO BE ACCOMMODATED, DISPLAYED AND OPERATED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC AT SUITABLE HERITAGE RAILWAYS, MUSEUMS AND SIMILAR SITES ; (B) SEEK MEMBERSHIP OF OR AFFILIATION TO ORGANISATIONS OFFERING GUIDANCE OR SUPPORT SERVICES SUCH AS THE HERITAGE RAILWAY ASSOCIATION
