THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO ADVANCE EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN THE FIELD OF BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES IN AFRICA THROUGH THE MENTORING OF JUNIOR SCIENTISTS AND POSTGRADUATE AND UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS ENGAGED IN EDUCATION AND / OR RESEARCH AT HIGHER EDUCATION AND / OR RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS IN AFRICA, IN THREE KEY AREAS: RESEARCH STUDY DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY, DATA MANAGEMENT AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS, AND MANUSCRIPT WRITING AND SCIENCE COMMUNICATION. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH [SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005] AND [SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008].
