THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: TO ADVANCE PUBLIC EDUCATION IN, AND APPRECIATION OF, THE ARTS FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT THROUGH THE PROVISION OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO MUSEUMS, GALLERIES AND EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENTS DESIGNED TO: A) PROMOTE AND RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF A WIDE RANGE OF ARTISTIC DISCIPLINES – INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO SCULPTURE, PAINTING, ANTIQUE AND DECORATIVE ART, ANTIQUITIES, RARE BOOKS, PHOTOGRAPHY, WATCHMAKING, JEWELLERY, AND OCEANIC AND TRIBAL ART – WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON NICHE OR RARE DISCIPLINES AND STYLES; B) CREATE PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS OF ARTWORKS THAT WOULD NOT OTHERWISE BE SEEN, FOR EXAMPLE, BY ARRANGING FOR PUBLIC EXHIBITION OF ITEMS IN PRIVATE COLLECTIONS NOT GENERALLY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC; C) INCREASE THE PUBLIC’S ACCESS TO EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH MATERIALS, WHETHER PHYSICAL OR ONLINE, PARTICULARLY FOR THE EDUCATION OF CHILDREN, THOSE IN RURAL OR REMOTE AREAS, OR THOSE FROM DEPRIVED BACKGROUNDS; D) PROMOTE THE UNDERSTANDING AND PRACTICE OF CERTAIN CRAFTS AND ART RESTORATION TECHNIQUES, SUCH AS WEAVING, CARPENTRY, STONEMASONRY, GLASS BLOWING, GILDING, BOOKBINDING, AND FRAMING; E) ASSIST IN THE PURCHASE AND PUBLIC DISPLAY OF CULTURALLY OR HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT WORKS, PARTICULARLY THOSE THAT ARE RARE AND OF EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY.
