Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: (1) TO PROMOTE COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN HEALTHY RECREATION, ESPECIALLY ON THE TIDAL THAMES AND ITS TRIBUTARIES (TT&T), FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES BY: (A) ORGANISING FIXED SEAT ROWING EVENTS, IN PARTICULAR THE GREAT RIVER RACE, TO PROVIDE INCENTIVES FOR PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SPORT OF FIXED-SEAT ROWING; (B) ASSISTING ROWING CLUBS AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN THE TT&T IN PROMOTING AND DEVELOPING THE SPORT OF FIXED-SEAT ROWING BY MAKING GRANTS FOR THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT FOR THIS AND ENCOURAGING THEM TO ORGANISE FIXED SEAT ROWING RACES FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT; AND (C) CREATING A FLEET OF SUITABLE BOATS WHICH WOULD BE LOANED TO CLUBS AND ORGANISATIONS ENGAGED IN THE SPORT OF FIXED-SEAT ROWING FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT. (2). THE PRESERVATION OF MARITIME AND RIPARIAN HERITAGE BY SUPPORTING THE PRESERVATION AND REPLICATION OF LOCAL TRADITIONAL BOATS IN THE TT&T AND PROMOTING THE HERITAGE-CRAFT OF TRADITIONAL WOODEN BOAT-BUILDING FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT.
