FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, THE RELIEF OF TORTURE SURVIVORS AND THEIR LIVE-IN FAMILIES WHO ARE IN CONDITIONS OF NEED DUE TO FINANCIAL HARDSHIP, PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS OR SOCIO OR ECONOMIC DISADVANTAGE ,BY THE PROVISION OF PRACTICAL SUPPORT. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLAUSE, A ‘TORTURE SURVIVOR’ IS DEFINED AS SOMEONE WHO HAS MADE A CLAIM OF TORTURE ARISING FROM THEIR POLITICAL ACTIVITIES OR VIEWS, ETHNIC, NATIONAL OR RELIGIOUS PROFILE OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION.
