Charitable objects
3.1 THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: 3.1.1 TO RELIEVE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP THROUGH THE PROVISION OF GRANTS, INFORMATION AND SUCH SUPPORT AS THE TRUSTEES DEEM APPROPRIATE. 3.1.2 TO FURTHER OR BENEFIT THE RESIDENTS THROUGHOUT ENGLAND AND WALES WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, RACE OR OF POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER THE SAID RESIDENTS AND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE RESIDENTS. 3.1.3 TO ADVANCE ANGOLAN CULTURE AND HERITAGE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY INCREASING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING IN THE UNITED KINGDOM OF ALL ASPECTS OF ANGOLAN CULTURE AND OF THE ANGOLAN WAY OF LIFE, INCLUDING WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING ANGOLAN HISTORY. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE.
