Charitable objects
THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO ADVANCE EDUCATION IN THE STUDY OF CHILDREN AND CHILDHOOD IN THE PAST FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE, FOR BOTH ACADEMIC AND PUBLIC BENEFIT, BY: (1) PROMOTING GLOBAL, MULTI-DISCIPLINARY RESEARCH ON THE SUBJECT OF CHILDREN AND CHILDHOOD IN THE PAST BY PROVIDING A FORUM FOR THE EXCHANGE AND DISCUSSION OF RESEARCH AND IDEAS BETWEEN ACADEMICS, STUDENTS AND THE WIDER PUBLIC. (2) SUPPORTING THE DISSEMINATION OF RESEARCH INTO CHILDREN AND CHILDHOOD IN THE PAST THROUGH AWARDS, AND ENABLING OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE SUCH RESEARCH AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC BENEFIT (E.G. FREE, ONLINE PUBLIC LECTURES) (3) PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES TO ADVANCE THE PUBLIC’S UNDERSTANDING OF CHILDREN AND CHILDHOOD IN THE PAST. (4) RAISING AWARENESS OF, AND WORKING TO OVERCOME, THE LACK OF REPRESENTATION OF CHILDREN AND CHILDREN’S LIVES WITHIN ARCHAEOLOGICAL DISCOURSE
