THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS THE PREVENTION OR RELIEF OF POVERTY, PRIMARILY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY OF BURMESE PEOPLE IN ASIA, BY PROVIDING GRANTS TO INDIVIDUALS IN NEED AND/OR CHARITIES, OR OTHER ORGANISATIONS WORKING TO PREVENT OR RELIEVE THE POVERTY OF BURMESE PEOPLE.
