Charitable objects
THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG WOMEN PROFESSIONALS IN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING, WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON EARLY CAREER DEVELOPMENT BY: A. PROMOTING GREATER DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION IN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING, WITH THE AIM OF ADDRESSING THE UNDERREPRESENTATION OF WOMEN IN THESE FIELDS; B. PROVIDING MENTORSHIP AND SUPPORT TO YOUNG WOMAN PROFESSIONALS OR THOSE IN THEIR EARLY CAREER YEARS, THIS INCLUDES INDIVIDUALS RETURNING TO WORK POST A CAREER BREAK IN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING, WITH THE GOAL OF INSPIRING AND EMPOWERING THEM TO ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL; AND C. RAISING AWARENESS OF ISSUES RELATED TO EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY IN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING, AND TO PROMOTE BEST PRACTICES IN THESE AREAS. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH [SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005] AND [SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008].
