Birkheads Wild supports young people in Gateshead and the wider North East area to build a better future for themselves - using the outdoors. By using the outdoors we help young people to grow in skills and confidence, to think for themselves and become more fulfilled. Our work helps young people to understand themselves better, to feel a sense of belonging, to grow in skills and confidence.

TO ADVANCE IN LIFE AND RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE WITH A FOCUS ON YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE SOCIALLY AND/OR ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED IN NORTH EAST ENGLAND THROUGH: (A) PROVIDING ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROVISION WHERE APPROPRIATE; (A) THE PROVISION OF RECREATIONAL AND LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES PROVIDED IN THE INTEREST OF SOCIAL WELFARE, DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE; (B) PROVIDING SUPPORT AND ACTIVITIES WHICH DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS, CAPACITIES AND CAPABILITIES TO ENABLE THEM TO PARTICIPATE IN SOCIETY AS MATURE AND RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUALS. 2. FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, THE RELIEF OF THOSE IN NEED BY REASON OF YOUTH AGE, ILL HEALTH, DISABILITY, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR OTHER SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DISADVANTAGE IN NORTH EAST ENGLAND IN SUCH WAYS AS THE TRUSTEES DETERMINE.
