There is currently no global platform representing all of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery. TUGSS aims to fill this space by uniting us all under one umbrella.

THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS: FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT THE RELIEF OF SICKNESS AND POOR HEALTH AND THE PRESERVATION OF GOOD HEALTH AMONGST THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN PARTICULAR BY PROMOTING AND SHARING GOOD PRACTICE AND STANDARDS IN THE FIELD OF ILLNESSES AND DISEASES INVOLVING THE UPPER GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT IN PARTICULAR BY: A. FORMING AN ASSEMBLY FOR THE REPRESENTATIVES OF WORLDWIDE GASTROINTESTINAL SOCIETIES TO COLLABORATE ON THE ABOVE; B. EDUCATING THE GENERAL PUBLIC THROUGH COURSES, SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS IN THE ABOVE REFERENCED TOPICS AS MEANS OF IMPROVING THE QUALITY AND STANDARD OF PATIENT TREATMENT AND CARE; C. PROMOTING AND CONDUCTING RESEARCH INTO THE ABOVE REFERENCED TOPICS AND IN ALL CASES PUBLISHING THE USEFUL RESULTS OF THAT RESEARCH; AND D. ESTABLISHING OR SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF HEALTHCARE FACILITIES (SUCH AS CLINICS, DIAGNOSTIC CENTRES OR HOSPITALS) AS A MEANS OF IMPROVING THE QUALITY AND STANDARD OF PATIENT TREATMENT AND CARE.
