THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, TO PROMOTE THE SAVING OF LIVES AND HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC, IN PARTICULAR BY: 1. ACTING AS A RESOURCE AND UMBRELLA BODY FOR MOUNTAIN RESCUE CHARITIES AND VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS. 2. PROMOTING AND FACILITATING EFFECTIVE LINKS WITH OTHER RESCUE SERVICES, SUCH AS MOUNTAIN RESCUE ENGLAND & WALES, BRITISH CAVE RESCUE COUNCIL, MOUNTAIN RESCUE SEARCH DOGS ENGLAND, LOWLAND RESCUE, THE POLICE, AMBULANCE, FIRE AND RESCUE AND COASTGUARD SERVICES. 3. PROMOTING AND FACILITATING HIGH STANDARDS OF TRAINING AND EQUIPMENT FOR ITS MEMBER TEAMS. 4. PROVIDING AND FACILITATING HELP AND SUPPORT WITH TRAINING; INCLUDING TECHNICAL TRAINING APPLICABLE TO SEARCHING FOR AND RESCUING PEOPLE IN DIFFICULTIES ON THE MOORS AND MOUNTAINOUS REGIONS OR INHOSPITABLE ENVIRONMENTS. 5. CO-ORDINATING THE WORK OF ITS MEMBER TEAMS ENGAGED IN LARGER SCALE SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS.
