THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT: 3.1 TO PROMOTE THE CONSERVATION, PRESERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL, NATURAL AND/OR BUILT ENVIRONMENT IN KIRKBY LONSDALE AND ITS SURROUNDING AREAS, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY THE SITE OF RUSKIN?S VIEW AND ITS IMMEDIATE SURROUNDING PUBLIC AREAS BEING OF PARTICULAR HISTORICAL INTEREST AND NATURAL BEAUTY. 3.2 TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE HISTORY, HERITAGE AND GEOGRAPHY OF KIRKBY LONSDALE AND ITS SURROUNDING AREAS, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY THE SITE OF RUSKIN?S VIEW. 3.3 TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF KIRKBY LONSDALE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES FOR RECREATION OR OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION OF INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE NEED OF SUCH FACILITIES BY REASON OF THEIR YOUTH, AGE, INFIRMITY OR DISABLEMENT, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES OR FOR THE PUBLIC AT LARGE IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITION OF LIFE OF THE SAID INHABITANTS.
