TO PROMOTE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT THE SOUND ADMINISTRATION OF THE LAW IN RELATION TO THE USE OF POLICE POWERS, INCLUDING BY EDUCATING THE PUBLIC AND RAISING AWARENESS OF SUCH POWERS; AND TO PROMOTE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT ETHICAL STANDARDS OF CONDUCT IN POLICING, IN PARTICULAR, IN RELATION TO POLICE CONDUCT, TO ENSURE POLICING IS ACCOUNTABLE, EFFECTIVE AND FAIR AND THAT PUBLIC CONFIDENCE IN THE POLICE IS IMPROVED, INCLUDING BY EDUCATING THE PUBLIC; 2. TO RELIEVE THE PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL SUFFERING, FINANCIAL IMPACT AND OTHER DISADVANTAGEOUS EFFECTS ON PEOPLE, INCLUDING BUT NOT RESTRICTED TO THOSE FROM MINORITY ETHNIC BACKGROUNDS, WHO ARE VICTIMS OF POLICE MISCONDUCT AND UNLAWFUL VIOLENCE, BY PROVIDING ACCESS TO EDUCATION, ADVICE AND PRACTICAL SUPPORT.
