THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN BOLDON COLLIERY, SOUTH TYNESIDE ARE: 1. THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF A PUBLIC WAR MEMORIAL TO INCORPORATE AND PRESERVE THE BOLDEN COLLIERY CLOCK DONATED IN 1956 TO COMMEMORATE THE SERVICE AND SACRIFICE OF THOSE FROM THE BOLDON COLLIERY AREA WHO SERVED IN BRITAIN’S ARMED FORCES DURING THE TWO WORLD WARS. 2. TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE HISTORY AND MINING HERITAGE OF BOLDEN COLLIERY AND ITS MINERS AND OF THOSE MINERS WHO SERVED IN BRITAIN’S ARMED FORCES DURING THE TWO WORLD WARS.
