THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE, FOR THE BENEFIT OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE IN SOUTH AFRICA AND ELSEWHERE IN THE WORLD: (A) TO RELIEVE AND PREVENT POVERTY AND FINANCIAL HARDSHIP BY: (I) PROVIDING (OR ASSISTING IN THE PROVISION OF) GRANTS, LOANS AND OTHER FORMS OF ASSISTANCE TO CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE IN NEED OF RELIEF OR AT RISK OF NEEDING RELIEF, AND TO CHARITIES OR OTHER NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANISATIONS WORKING TO RELIEVE OR PREVENT POVERTY OR FINANCIAL HARDSHIP AMONG SUCH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE; (II) SUCH OTHER CHARITABLE MEANS AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES MAY FROM TIME TO TIME THINK FIT; (B) TO ADVANCE EDUCATION BY: (I) PROVIDING (OR ASSISTING IN THE PROVISION OF) EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES, SERVICES, FACILITIES OR EQUIPMENT, SCHOLARSHIPS, BURSARIES AND OTHER FORMS OF ASSISTANCE TO CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE IN EDUCATION OR TRAINING OR SEEKING EDUCATION OR TRAINING, AND TO CHARITIES OR OTHER NOT-FOR-PROFITS ORGANISATIONS WORKING TO EDUCATE OR TRAIN SUCH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE; (II) SUCH OTHER CHARITABLE MEANS AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES MAY FROM TIME TO TIME THINK FIT.
