THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS: TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE SUBJECT OF THE TRANSATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE BETWEEN THE 16TH AND 19TH CENTURIES, ITS ABOLITION AND IN ITS HISTORIC, SOCIAL, CULTURAL, LEGAL AND ECONOMIC LEGACIES IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY: A) PROMOTING OR CONDUCTING OR ASSISTING IN THE PROMOTION AND CONDUCT OF RESEARCH, SURVEYS AND INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE ABOVE REFERENCED TOPICS AND PUBLISHING THE USEFUL RESULTS THEREOF; B) ORGANISING CONFERENCES, SEMINARS, EXHIBITIONS AND COMMEMORATIVE INSTALLATIONS AND THE PRODUCTION OF OTHER RELEVANT MEMORABILIA.
