Charitable objects
THE OBJECT[S] OF THE CIO ARE:- 1. TO RELIEVE PEOPLE WHO ARE IN NEED, BY REASON OF THEIR AGE, ILL-HEALTH, DISABILITY, OR OTHER SOCIO-ECONOMIC DISADVANTAGES IN SUCH WAYS AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL THINK FIT, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL AID, SUPPORT SERVICES, AND RESOURCES SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO IMPROVE HEALTH AND THEIR CONDITION OF LIFE; AND 2. THE PROMOTION OF SOCIAL INCLUSION AMONG ELDERLY PERSONS WHO ARE EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY BECAUSE THEY ARE HOUSE-BOUND, OR WHO ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE OR EASILY ACCESS PUBLIC TRANSPORT, BY ORGANISING VARIOUS COMMUNITY EVENTS, SOCIAL ACTIVITIES, AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SOCIAL INTERACTION, SUPPORT, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, THUS BUILDING A STRONGER, MORE INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY FOR THE ELDERLY AND THROUGH EDUCATION AND RESOURCE ACCESSIBILITY TO ENHANCE THEIR ABILITY TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY 3.TO RELIEVE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP BY ASSISTING IN SECURING HOUSING, SHELTER, AND ESSENTIAL LIVING SUPPLIES FOR THOSE FACING HOMELESSNESS OR INADEQUATE LIVING CONDITIONS. NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH [SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005] AND [SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008].
