TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE ART OF ORAL POETRY AND TRADITIONAL SONGS OF AFRICA, IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY: 1. COLLECTING, MANAGING, PRESERVING AFRICAN POETRY AND SONGS FROM ORAL TRADITIONS. 2. PUBLISHING AND DISSEMINATING RESEARCH INTO THE HISTORIES, CONTEXTS AND PRACTICES OF THE ORAL POETRY AND TRADITIONAL SONGS OF AFRICA. 3. PROVIDING INFORMATION ABOUT THE POETS, MUSICIANS, HISTORIANS AND OTHERS WORKING WITH AND WITHIN THE ORAL TRADITIONS OF AFRICA, TO INCREASE THE PUBLIC’S KNOWLEDGE OF AFRICAN ORAL POETRY AND TO ADD TO THE COLLECTIVE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THIS SUBJECT.
