Charitable objects
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO (THE OBJECTS) ARE: (1) (IN RELATION TO THE ALMSHOUSE BRANCH OF THE CIO): THE PROVISION OF ACCOMMODATION FOR PERSONS WHO ARE IN NEED HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS AND ARE RESIDENT IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT; (2) (IN RELATION TO THE UNITED CHARITY BRANCH OF THE CIO): (A) THE PROVISION OF AN ANNUAL MAINTENANCE GRANT TO OKEHAMPTON UNITED ECCLESIASTICAL CHARITY (1077584) OF A MINIMUM OF ?4,500 PER ANNUM, FOR THE UPKEEP OF ST JAMES? CHAPEL, OKEHAMPTON; (B) THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION: (I) BY THE PROVISION OF SPECIAL BENEFITS TO OKEHAMPTON COLLEGE AND/OR STATE FUNDED PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT; AND (II) OF YOUNG PERSONS WHO HAVE NOT ATTAINED THE AGE OF 25 YEARS WHO, OR WHOSE PARENTS OR CARERS, ARE RESIDENT IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT, AND OF OLDER PERSONS WHO ARE RESIDENT IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT, IN SUCH WAYS AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES THINK FIT; (C) THE RELIEF OF PERSONS RESIDENT IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT WHO ARE IN NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS; (D) THE RELIEF OF PERSONS RESIDENT IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT IN NEED WHO ARE SICK, CONVALESCENT, DISABLED OR INFIRM, BY ALLEVIATING THEIR SUFFERING OR ASSISTING THEIR RECOVERY; AND (E) TO PROMOTE SUCH OTHER CHARITABLE PURPOSES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE AREA OF BENEFIT AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES MAY DECIDE.
