THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS: 1) TO ADVANCE IN LIFE AND RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE (INCLUDING YOUNG ADULTS) WITH DOWN SYNDROME AND THEIR FAMILIES AND CARERS LIVING IN THE SOUTH EAST OF ENGLAND THROUGH: A) PROVIDING SUPPORT, ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE WHICH DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS, CAPACITIES AND CAPABILITIES TO ENABLE THEM TO PARTICIPATE IN SOCIETY AS INDEPENDENT INDIVIDUALS; B) ORGANISING STRUCTURED PROGRAMMES FOR PHYSICAL, EDUCATIONAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT, INCLUDING WORKSHOPS, NETWORKS, TRAINING AND GENERAL SUPPORT; C) PROVIDING RECREATIONAL AND LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES PROVIDED IN THE INTEREST OF SOCIAL WELFARE, DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE; D) PROVIDING A SUPPORT NETWORK FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE AND THEIR FAMILIES; E) RAISING AWARENESS OF THE ISSUES AFFECTING YOUNG PEOPLE WITH DOWN SYNDROME AND THEIR FAMILIES.
