THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO, WHICH ARE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT AND TO BE FURTHERED THROUGH GRANT MAKING TO CHARITIES AND NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANISATIONS OPERATING IN ENGLAND AND WALES AND SUCH OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL FROM TIME TO TIME DETERMINE, ARE: 1. THE PROMOTION OF HUMANE BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS ANIMALS BY PROVIDING APPROPRIATE CARE, PROTECTION, TREATMENT AND SECURITY FOR ANIMALS WHICH ARE IN NEED OF CARE AND ATTENTION BY REASON OF SICKNESS, MALTREATMENT, POOR CIRCUMSTANCES OR ILL USAGE AND THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN MATTERS PERTAINING TO ANIMAL WELFARE IN GENERAL AND THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY AND SUFFERING AMONG ANIMALS. 2. THE RELIEF OF THOSE IN NEED BY REASON OF YOUTH, AGE, ILL-HEALTH, DISABILITY OR FINANCIAL HARDSHIP. 3. THE ADVANCEMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION OR IMPROVEMENT BY PROMOTING POLICIES WHICH WILL LEAD OR CONTRIBUTE TO THE ACHIEVEMENT OF ECOLOGICALLY SUSTAINABLE HUMAN POPULATION LEVELS AND THE PRUDENT USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES.
