THE OBJECT OF THE CIO, TO BE CARRIED OUT FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN ENGLAND AND WALES, IS: TO RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS AFFECTED BY SUBSTANCE AND ALCOHOL MISUSE OR ADDICTION WITHIN THEIR HOME ENVIRONMENT THROUGH THE PROVISION OF SUPPORT AND INFORMATION DESIGNED TO REDUCE DRUG AND ALCOHOL RELATED HARM, AND IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY: (A) ESTABLISHING A HELPLINE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND ADVICE; (B) PROVIDING TALKS AND INFORMATION PACKS; (C) WORKING WITH STATUTORY BODIES, GPS, CHARITIES AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE HARMFUL IMPACT OF SUBSTANCE MISUSE ON CHILDREN AND FAMILIES.
