Charitable objects
3.1 THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: (1) TO RELIEVE POVERTY AND TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY PREVENTING PEOPLE FROM BECOMING SOCIALLY EXCLUDED, RELIEVING THE NEEDS OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED AND ASSISTING THEM TO INTEGRATE INTO SOCIETY;; FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLAUSE ‘SOCIALLY EXCLUDED’ MEANS BEING EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY, OR PART OF SOCIETY, AS A RESULT OF BEING A MEMBER OF A SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY DEPRIVED COMMUNITY; (2) TO PROMOTE PUBLIC HEALTH AND TO RELIEVE SICKNESS AND TO PRESERVE THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF MEMBERS OF SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY DEPRIVED COMMUNITIES; (3) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF MEMBERS OF SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES; (4) TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC THE CONSERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT; (5) TO PROMOTE SUCH OBJECTS AS ARE EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE UNDER THE LAWS OF ENGLAND AND WALES; AND (5) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE DESIGN COMMUNITY* BY OFFERING TRAINING ON DESIGNING PRODUCTS AND SERVICES TO MEET THE CHARITABLE OBJECTS (1) TO (5) ABOVE. * DESIGN COMMUNITY IS DEFINED AS A GROUP COMPRISING DESIGNERS, DEVELOPMENT EXPERTS AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS NEEDED FOR THE DESIGN OF PRODUCTS AND SERVICES THAT RESULT IN SOCIAL GOOD.
