Charitable objects
THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS: TO ADVANCE EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN COVENTRY AND THE SURROUNDING AREA, IN THE USE, LEARNING, AND APPRECIATION OF ALL GLOBAL LANGUAGES, INCLUDING HERITAGE LANGUAGES, AND TO PROMOTE THROUGH THE PROVISION OF TEACHING, ADVICE, SUPPORT, INFORMATION AND RESEARCH (THE USEFUL RESULTS OF WHICH WILL BE PUBLISHED) THE INCREASED UNDERSTANDING, APPRECIATION AND IMPORTANCE OF THE POSITIVE SOCIAL, CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC FUNCTION AND FACILITY OF GLOBAL LANGUAGES AND LANGUAGE LEARNING. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS CLAUSE A ‘HERITAGE LANGUAGE’ IS DEFINED AS A MINORITY LANGUAGE (EITHER IMMIGRANT OR INDIGENOUS) LEARNED BY ITS SPEAKERS AT HOME AS CHILDREN, AND DIFFICULT TO BE FULLY DEVELOPED BECAUSE OF INSUFFICIENT INPUT FROM THE SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT.
