THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE TO ADVANCE EDUCATION, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, OF FAMILIES, CHILDREN AND WIDER PUBLIC ON THE EFFECTS AND CAUSES OF AIR POLLUTION, AND ON THE SUBJECT OF SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT, PARTICULARLY IN RELATION TO SCHOOL RUN JOURNEYS BY PROVIDING INFORMATION ON THE CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF CONGESTION, AIR POLLUTION AND ROAD DANGER, AND BY PROVIDING RESEARCH AND DATA RESOURCES ON SCHOOL TRAVEL; AND TO ADVANCE THE HEALTH OF THE PUBLIC BY PROMOTING THE BENEFITS OF WALKING AND CYCLING TO SCHOOL THROUGH THEIR FAMILY-FOCUSED ACTIVE TRAVEL EVENTS AND PROMOTING PUBLIC TRANSPORT AND SCHOOL BUS USE, WHICH ARE MEASURES TO REDUCE AIR POLLUTION AND ITS NEGATIVE IMPACT ON PUBLIC HEALTH.
