Charitable objects
THE OBJECT OF THE CIO, TO BE CARRIED OUT FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN SUCH PARTS OF THE UK AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL FROM TIME TO TIME DETERMINE, IS: TO ADVANCE PUBLIC APPRECIATION OF, AND EDUCATION IN, SOUTH ASIAN HERITAGE PERFORMING ARTS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DANCE, MUSIC, THEATRE, POETRY AND STORYTELLING, IN BOTH THEIR CLASSICAL AND TRADITIONAL FOLK FORMS, THROUGH THE PROVISION OF ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS DESIGNED TO: · RAISE AWARENESS AND PROMOTE THE LEARNING AND TEACHING OF SOUTH ASIAN CLASSICAL AND TRADITIONAL PERFORMING ARTS, WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON ENGAGING CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN EDUCATIONAL AND NON-EDUCATIONAL SPACES; · CREATE AN INCLUSIVE SPACE FOR ARTISTS AND PERFORMERS, PARTICULARLY EMERGING PRACTITIONERS WHO LACK RESOURCES AND SUPPORT, WITH A FOCUS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SOUTH ASIAN PERFORMING ARTS; · ENCOURAGE, PROMOTE AND EMPOWER ARTISTS, INCLUDING EMERGING ARTISTS TO (I) PERFORM, (II) DEVELOP THEIR ART AND SKILLS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THEIR CLASSICAL TRADITIONS AND HERITAGE, AND (III) EXPLORE THEIR ART AND SKILLS WITHIN THESE CLASSICAL TRADITIONS; · ‘DECOLONISE’ SOUTH ASIAN HERITAGE ART FORMS TO RECLAIM THEIR AUTHENTICITY, DISRUPT COLONIAL NARRATIVES, AND ENSURE THESE TRADITIONS ARE PRESERVED AND CELEBRATED ON THEIR OWN CULTURAL TERMS; AND · CONSERVE THE TRADITIONAL ARTS OF SOUTH ASIAN HERITAGE, WHILE CELEBRATING THEIR DIVERSITY AND FOSTERING MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT WITH THE COMMUNITY.
